Take Action against
Irregularities in Sand Mining
The 16th annual
day and exhibition of TamilNadu Earth Movers Owners Welfare Association
(TEMOWA) was held at YMCA, Nandanam today. The event was presided by Mr.
KathiparaJanarthanan, President of TEMOWA. Former Union Minister and President
of Tamil Maanila Congress, Shri G.K Vasan graced the evening as the Chief Guest
and also addressed the gathering.
A key part of this event was the
huge exhibition that was inaugurated in the morning by Justice(Retd)
Kulasekaran. Leading companies across the globe showcased their Earth Movers
and other related machinery. The exhibition was a host to more than 100 stalls.
For the first time in TamilNadu, a lot of World-class
equipment were on display for the audience who watched it with awe
and interest. Shri G.K Vasan too visited the stalls accompanied by other
dignitaries.
“We’ve have been conducting our
function and exhibition every year. This is our 16th year and
our beloved leader Shri G.K Vasan has been our Chief Guest for the past 11
years” says TEMOWA’s President KathiparaJanarthanan. ”We’ve been pressing our
demands every year and we’ve our set of demands this time too” and he listed
them out.
· Rolling back the hike in
Petrol/Diesel prices
· Only local equipment/vehicles
should be allowed for sand mining in any locality
· Take action to stop
irregularities/corruption in sand mining
· The payment for mining
permits should be received as “Demand Draft” and not Cash
He placed a request to the Chief
Minister to kindly consider their request and act on their demands
“We at TEMOWA’s also conduct
welfare programs in schools and offer assistance for the needy and the poor in possible
ways. We conduct a lot of blood donation and health camps that has benefitted a
lot of people. Still we’ll continue to do more on our part” said Mr.
KathiparaJanardhanan as he signed off.
